UMVOTO ENTERPRISE GIS

Umvoto is a water resource development and management consultancy based in Cape Town.

They approached Kartoza to set up a FOSS-based enterprise GIS to manage disparate legacy and

new data from their staff and customers. Our brief was to design and implement a a spatial database

and web map server, build and deploy a web map application and provide training, maintenance and

support. Kartoza approached this on the basis of assisting Umvoto in the setup of the spatial database

and web map server capabilities and empowering the GIS team to build on the system and take it

forward internally. Throughout the process, Kartoza actively engaged the team to understand the user

needs, so as to better provide guidance and advice at each stage of the project.
