Nairobi Convention Clearinghouse (NCCH)

Gavin Fleming, while at AfriSpatial, implemented the South African portal of the Nairobi Convention Clearinghouse (NCCH) for SAEON (South African Environmental Observation Network) during 2010. It is a central place to search for and browse metadata describing mainly marine and coastal data in the western Indian Ocean. In many instances the metadata records contain links to WMS services or downloads. The portal consists of GeoNetwork OpenSource on a PostgreSQL database and with the SAEON GeoServer instance on PostGIS as its main source of OGC WMS (web map service) layers.
